The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), Bhopal, is conducting the Police Constable (GD) Direct Recruitment Selection Test 2026 for the Police Headquarters, Home (Police) Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 7,500 Constable (GD) posts are available, including 700 posts for Special Armed Force (SAF) and 6,800 posts for Constable GD other than SAF. Online applications can be submitted from 22 September 2026 to 06 October 2026, with correction allowed up to 11 October 2026. The examination is scheduled to begin from 19 November 2026. Eligibility Criteria

A. Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

B. Madhya Pradesh Domicile

  • Permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can claim applicable reservation benefits.
  • Candidates from other states can apply only for Open/Unreserved posts.
  • Candidates from other states will not receive reservation or age-relaxation benefits.
  • For candidates from other states, the maximum age as on 06/10/2026 is 33 years.

Educational Qualification

UR / SC / OBC Candidates

The candidate must have passed:

  • Class 10th under the 10+2 system, or
  • Higher Secondary, or
  • An equivalent examination from a recognized Board/Institution.

ST Candidates

The candidate must have passed:

  • Class 8th, or
  • An equivalent examination.

The required educational qualification must have been obtained by the date of submitting the application. Qualification obtained after the application closing date will not make the candidate eligible.

Age Calculation Date: 06 October 2026

Minimum Age: 18 years

The maximum age varies according to category and applicable relaxation.

Age Relaxation

The PDF provides the following provisions:

  • Eligible Vikram Award winners can receive up to 5 years additional relaxation.
  • Eligible candidates under the prescribed Inter-Caste Marriage Incentive Scheme can receive up to 5 years relaxation.
  • If more than one relaxation is applicable, only the maximum applicable benefit will be allowed.
  • Eligible Ex-Servicemen can receive age benefit according to the prescribed rules concerning their previous defence service.
  • Central Government/other State Government employees will not receive additional relaxation unless specifically provided in the rules.
  • Contract teachers/assistant teachers of local bodies will not receive the government-employee age relaxation.
  • Retrenched government employees may receive relaxation according to the prescribed provisions.
  • No other age relaxation will be provided beyond the provisions mentioned in the notification.

A. Special Armed Force (SAF)

Male Candidates

For General/Unreserved and OBC:

  • Height: 168 cm
  • Chest without expansion: 79 cm
  • Chest with expansion: 84 cm

For Gorkha/Garhwali/Kumaoni candidates:

  • Height: 157 cm
  • Chest: 79 cm / 84 cm

For Maratha/SC/ST candidates:

  • Height: 165 cm
  • Chest: 79 cm / 84 cm

B. Constable GD Other Than SAF

UR / SC / OBC

Male:

  • Height: 168 cm
  • Chest without expansion: 81 cm
  • Chest with expansion: 86 cm

Female:

  • Height: 155 cm

ST

Male:

  • Height: 160 cm
  • Chest without expansion: 76 cm
  • Chest with expansion: 81 cm

Female:

  • Height: 155 cm

Chest measurement is applicable only to male candidates.

The PDF states that no relaxation will be provided in the prescribed physical standards.

Medical Requirements

The District Medical Board will conduct the prescribed medical examination, including:

  • Height measurement
  • Chest measurement for male candidates
  • Eye examination
  • Without glasses, vision of one eye should not be less than 6/9 and the other eye should not be less than 6/12.
  • Candidate should be able to distinguish the main colors.
  • Knock-knee should not be present.
  • Flat foot should not be present.
  • Candidate should not have any physical disability affecting eligibility.

The notification also provides provisions regarding further medical examination/appeal before the Divisional or State-level Medical Board.


Selection Process / Recruitment Process

The selection process consists mainly of the following stages:

Stage 1 — Written Examination

  • Online examination
  • Multiple-choice questions
  • Hindi language
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Correct Answer: +1 mark
  • No negative marking for wrong/unanswered questions.

Subject-wise Marks

1.      General Knowledge & Logical Knowledge — 40 marks

2.      Intellectual Ability & Mental Aptitude — 30 marks

3.      Science & Simple Arithmetic — 30 marks

Stage 2 — Physical Efficiency Test

  • Candidates up to 7 times the advertised vacancies will be called for the next stage based on the written examination cut-off percentile.
  • Candidates obtaining marks equal to the applicable cut-off percentile will also be called.
  • Candidates must obtain at least 30 marks out of 100 (30%) in the Physical Efficiency Test.
  • Physical Efficiency Test marks will be added to written examination marks for the final merit.

Physical Efficiency Activities

1.      800 Metre Race

2.      Long Jump

3.      Shot Put

  • One opportunity is provided for the 800-metre race.
  • Three opportunities are provided for Long Jump and Shot Put.

The final merit will be prepared based on the prescribed written examination and physical efficiency test marks, subject to document verification, medical and other required conditions.

Photograph & Signature Instructions

According to the PDF:

  • Photograph must be in color.
  • Background should be white.
  • Photograph should be taken from the front.
  • Both ears should be clearly visible.
  • Polaroid photographs are not acceptable.
  • Photograph should not be more than 3 months old from the date of application.
  • Date of photograph and candidate's name should be clearly mentioned on the photograph.
  • Candidates who regularly use spectacles should have their photograph wearing spectacles.

  • Only UIDAI-verified E-Aadhaar is accepted.
  • Aadhaar-based multi-level biometric verification is mandatory.
  • Candidates arriving after the prescribed reporting time will not be allowed to enter.
