Candidates should generally be in the third year or higher of qualifying programmes (or as specified for each course) or have already completed the qualifying degree.

Candidates should possess eligible qualifications in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities as specified in the eligibility table.

Entrance Examination

Admission is based on the GATE 2027 Computer Based Test (CBT).

Merit List

Admission procedures vary across institutes.

Counseling / Interview

Depending upon the admitting institute:

• Direct admission on GATE Score
• GATE Score + Written Test
• GATE Score + Interview
• GATE Score + Academic Record

MoE guidelines prescribe minimum 70% weightage to GATE Score, while the remaining weightage may be assigned to interview/test/academic record.

2.      Register using email/mobile (DigiLocker recommended for Indian candidates).

3.      Complete registration.

4.      Fill application form.

5.      Select paper(s).

6.      Upload photograph.

7.      Upload signature.

8.      Upload Photo ID.

9.      Upload category/PwD/Dyslexia certificate (if applicable).

10. Pay application fee online.

11. Submit application.

12. Download submitted application PDF.

The GATE Committee itself does not allocate seats.
