Educational Qualification

Medical Officer – Occupational Health

Qualification: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

Candidates having training in:

• Occupational Health
• Public Health
• Occupational Medicine

will be preferred.

Specialists – Dehradun Hospital

Qualification: MD/MS in the respective stream.

Specialists – Sivasagar Hospital

Qualification can be:

• MD/MS/DNB in respective stream, or
• PG Diploma in respective stream

Medical Officer – Homeopathy

Qualification: Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS).

Registration Requirement

Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification and valid registration with the concerned statutory authority, wherever applicable, on the date of interview.

MBBS/MD/MS/BHMS degrees must compulsorily be registered with MCI/NMC/NCH/State, as applicable.

Candidates possessing MBBS/MD or equivalent medical qualifications from foreign universities may be considered provided their qualification is recognized and approved by MCI/NMC.

Experience: Desirable for all posts.

Maximum Age Limit: There is no maximum age limit for applying.

Selection Process / Recruitment Process

Selection broadly consists of:

Online Application → Shortlisting (where applicable) → Physical Document Verification → Interview → Merit List → Medical Examination → Engagement

Selection Weightage

Qualification carries:

• 60 marks for essential qualification
• Up to 10 marks for relevant higher qualifications

Interview Qualifying Marks

Homeopathy Shortlisting

For Medical Officer – Homeopathy:

• Shortlisting ratio: 1:10
• Ten candidates will be called against one post.
• If eligible candidates exceed this ratio, shortlisting will be based on qualification weightage.

Example given in the PDF: 60% in BHMS will carry a weightage of 48 marks.

If more than one candidate is at the minimum cut-off mark, all such candidates will be shortlisted.

Merit List

Candidates qualifying in the interview will be empanelled in the merit list. Offers will be issued according to relative rank based on the combined marks obtained in qualification and interview.

For Medical Officer-Specialist and Medical Officer-Homeopathy, in case of a tie:

1.      Higher interview marks

2.      If still tied, older candidate gets preference.

For Medical Officer-Occupational Health, relevant occupational/public health/occupational medicine training gets preference in a tie. If the tie continues, interview marks and then age are considered.

Final engagement is subject to passing ONGC's Medical Examination.

Crucial Eligibility Dates

Minimum essential qualifications, including inline higher qualifications, must be possessed on or before the date of interview.

Registration with the concerned statutory council must be valid on the date of interview.

Pay Scale / Salary Details

The posts carry consolidated Annual CTC rather than a regular pay scale.

Medical Officer – Occupational Health

Specialist – Dehradun Hospital (MD/MS)

Specialist – Sivasagar (MD/MS/DNB)

Specialist – Sivasagar (PG Diploma)

Medical Officer – Homeopathy

The Annual CTC is inclusive of statutory benefits including PF and Gratuity. Gratuity will be paid on a pro-rata basis on completion of one year of tenure as per the provisions of the Social Security Code.

How to Apply – Step-by-Step

1.      Visit the ONGC website.

2.      Open the registration web link for the recruitment.

3.      Register online between 05 August 2026 and 18 August 2026.

4.      Select the eligible post-location combination.

5.      A candidate can apply for only one post-location combination.

6.      Fill in the required personal, educational and other information accurately.

7.      Upload the applicable documents specified in the advertisement.

8.      Submit the online application.

9.      If multiple applications are submitted, only the latest application will be treated as final.

10. Check the registered email for communication regarding document verification and interview.

11. Appear physically for Document Verification at the specified work location/venue.

12. After document verification, appear for the interview.

All communication with candidates will be made through email.

Documents Required

Candidates are required to upload the following documents, as applicable to the post:

1.      Recent passport-size colour photograph with white background, along with the candidate's signature on a small white sheet pasted just below the photograph, in JPG/JPEG format, up to 200 KB.

2.      Photo identity proof, such as:

o    PAN Card

o    Aadhaar Card

o    Passport

o    Driving Licence

o    Voter ID Card

3.      Class 10th Board Certificate containing Date of Birth.

4.      Consolidated marksheet of MBBS/BHMS degree.

5.      MBBS Degree.

6.      Certificate regarding training in occupational health/public health/occupational medicine, where applicable.

7.      BHMS Degree.

8.      Degree and marksheets for Post Graduate Degree.

9.      Degree and marksheets for Post Graduate Diploma.

10. Diplomate of National Board (DNB).

11. Proof of higher qualification, if any – marksheets of all semesters and Degree/Diploma certificate.

Reservation candidates must also produce applicable prescribed certificates, including OBC/SC/ST/PwBD/EWS documents as required.

Reservation / Certificate Conditions

Candidates seeking OBC/SC/ST reservation must produce certificates in the prescribed Government of India format.

For OBC, the certificate must:

• Clearly indicate non-creamy-layer status.
• Be issued by the competent authority.
• Have been issued on or after 01 April 2026.

Candidates seeking EWS reservation must produce an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format. The certificate must have been issued on or after 01 April 2026.

Where a post is not reserved for a particular category, a reserved-category candidate may still apply if eligible but will be treated at par with UR candidates for that post.

Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

• Engagement is purely on a fixed-term basis up to 30 June 2028.
• Contract tenure begins from the date of joining.
• Engagement is subject to medical fitness.
• Selected candidates must follow the duty pattern decided by ONGC management.
• Selected candidates must sign a contract agreement.
• The contract automatically ends on expiry of the prescribed period.
• No extension of tenure will be given after expiry.
• Either party can terminate the contract by giving one month's notice.
• Fixed-term engagement does not create any right to regular employment in ONGC.
• Annual CTC includes statutory benefits such as PF and Gratuity.
• Medical Officers engaged on Fixed Term Basis are considered specialized professionals and are not covered under the Worker Category.
• 12 days Casual Leave will be granted per calendar year on a pro-rata basis, with one casual leave allowed per month.
• Maternity leave will be available to female doctors as per the Social Security Code, subject to eligibility.
• False certificates, suppression of facts or incorrect information can lead to termination/disqualification/rejection at any stage.
• Only Indian nationals can apply.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Document Verification and interview will be conducted physically.
• Requests for change of interview/document verification venue will not be entertained.
• ONGC may modify, merge, add or withdraw document verification/interview centres.
• ONGC may change a candidate's posting or cancel the engagement exercise fully or partially at any stage.
• Disputes are subject to Delhi jurisdiction only.
