The posts carry Level-4 pay ₹25,500–₹81,100 under the 7th PRC plus admissible allowances. Educational Qualification

The following essential qualifications must be possessed as on 01.01.2026:

1.      Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution.

2.      Diploma/Certificate of at least six months' Course in Computer Application from a recognized institution.


Preferential Qualification

Preference, other things being equal, will be given at the time of interview to a candidate who:

  • has served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of two years, or
  • has obtained a 'B' Certificate of National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Age Relaxation


Government Employees

Candidates employed under the Central Government or Government of Bihar receive 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit.


Locomotor Disabled Candidates

Additional 10 years relaxation in the maximum age limit of the respective category, subject to production of a valid Disability Certificate.


High Court/Subordinate Court Employees

The upper age limit does not apply to:

  • persons already serving in the establishment of the High Court;
  • persons engaged on daily wages;
  • persons working in Courts subordinate to the High Court; or
  • persons placed on deputation.

Caste/category-based upper-age relaxation is available only to permanent residents of Bihar, subject to production of valid domicile and applicable category/NCL certificates.


Reservation Conditions

For SC/ST reservation, candidates may be required to submit:

  • Caste Certificate
  • Domicile/Permanent Residence Certificate

For BC/EBC:

  • Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Certificate for the purpose of Government of Bihar
  • Domicile/Permanent Residence Certificate

BC/EBC candidates cannot claim reservation merely on the basis of a caste certificate; an NCL Certificate is mandatory.

For EWS:

  • Income and Asset Certificate issued by competent authority under Bihar rules, valid for one year from issuance
  • Domicile/Permanent Residence Certificate

For married EWS women, the Income and Asset Certificate must be issued from the permanent residence of the husband, while the domicile/permanent residence certificate must contain the father's name and address.

All uploaded reservation certificates must have been issued on or before 27.08.2026 and must be valid on the date the application is submitted.

The certificates produced during Document Verification must be the same certificates/documents uploaded with the online application.

For Locomotor Disabled reservation, disability must be not less than 40%. Such candidates may also be medically examined by a Medical Board constituted by the Court.

No scribe or extra time is provided to Locomotor Disabled candidates in any part/stage of the examination.

Negative Marking

There will be a deduction of 0.25 mark (1/4th mark) for every wrong MCQ answer in the Preliminary and Written Tests.

Computer Proficiency Test

The test carries 50 marks, with minimum qualifying marks of 20, and duration of 30 minutes.

The test is qualifying in nature.

It tests basic typing/MS Word skills, basic understanding of MS Excel, and basic understanding of the Internet.

Candidates are shortlisted for this test on the basis of performance in the Written Test as detailed in Annexure-I.

Interview

Maximum Marks: 10
Minimum Qualifying Marks: 03 (30%)

Final merit is prepared using the marks obtained in the Written Test and Interview.

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two or more candidates have equal merit marks:

1.      Candidate with higher Written Test marks is ranked higher.

2.      If Written Test marks are also equal, the candidate born earlier is ranked higher.

The select list/waiting panel remains valid for one year from approval by the Competent Authority and may be extended for another year in case of exigency.


Pay Scale / Salary Details

Pay Level: Level-4
Pay Matrix: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100
Pay Commission: 7th PRC
Allowances: Usual allowances as admissible under applicable Patna High Court rules.

Probation

Initial appointment will be on probation for one year.

Examination Centres

Candidates must select three cities in order of preference.

18. Proceed to online fee payment.

19. After payment, the application becomes finally submitted and no alteration/change is allowed.

20. Take a printout of the final submitted application showing payment details and retain it with the uploaded documents.

The online procedure described in the advertisement is the only valid application procedure; applications through another mode or incomplete steps will be rejected.


Photograph Requirements

The candidate must capture a live photograph.

The photograph should:

  • clearly show the full face, both ears and neck;
  • have a neutral/non-smiling expression;
  • show open eyes looking toward the camera;
  • be in colour;
  • preferably have a white/light-coloured background;
  • have no harsh shadows or red-eye.

Caps, hats, sunglasses and dark glasses are not acceptable.

Religious headwear is permitted provided it does not cover the face.

Power glasses are allowed provided there is no reflection and the eyes are clearly visible.

Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

Only one application should be submitted. In case of multiple applications, only the last application correct in all respects will be considered, and fees paid with earlier applications will not be adjusted/refunded.

Candidates must participate in and qualify all applicable stages; no exemption from any examination stage is granted even to Locomotor Disabled candidates.

Online applications cannot be withdrawn after successful submission.

Candidates should verify Name, Gender, Address, Email, Category, Disability Status, Educational Qualification and Date of Birth before final submission. Requests for subsequent changes will not be considered.

Providing false information, suppressing facts, using another person's photograph/signature or tampering with Admit Card/result can lead to cancellation, disqualification, penal action or termination after appointment.

Candidates who changed their name after Matriculation must produce a notarized affidavit, publication proof in at least one national and one local newspaper, and the relevant Gazette Notification at document verification.

Criminal proceedings/FIR/complaint cases and punishments, if any, must be disclosed.

Departmental proceedings/punishments during current or previous employment must also be disclosed.

Mobile phones, pagers, Bluetooth devices, smart watches and other communication devices are prohibited in examination premises.

Canvassing or unfair means will disqualify the candidate.

Admit Cards will be issued through the official Patna High Court website and will not be individually dispatched.

Appearing or qualifying in the recruitment examination does not by itself confer a right to appointment.

Selection remains provisional until eligibility is finally verified.

The High Court may change vacancies, examination procedure, selection scheme or qualifying marks.

There is no provision for re-evaluation/re-checking/scrutiny of answer sheets/scores.

Candidates should regularly monitor the official website because examination schedules and recruitment updates will be communicated through the website.

Recruitment records will remain available for 365 days from declaration of the final result, after which examination material may be weeded out.
