Educational Qualification

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any one of the following:

  • Business Administration
  • Computer Application
  • Commerce
  • Science – Mathematics / Statistics
  • Arts – Statistics / Economics / Mathematics

The degree must be obtained from a University/institution established or incorporated under a Central or State Act in India, an institution recognized/deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

Additional Requirements

Candidate must:

  • possess basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967; and
  • possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Important Qualification Note

Candidates holding B.Sc. (CA & IT) or M.Sc. (CA & IT) degrees are not considered eligible for this post.

Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear in the qualifying degree examination may be admitted to the Preliminary Examination even if the result has not been declared by the last date of application.

However, candidates qualifying for the Main Examination must produce proof of passing the required degree examination with their Main Examination application.

The cut-off date for passing the prescribed graduate qualification will be the last date for filling the Main Examination form.

 

Computer Qualification

Candidates should possess basic computer knowledge.

Acceptable evidence includes:

  • Certificate/marksheet from a training institution showing prescribed basic computer knowledge;
  • Diploma/Degree/Certificate course in computer knowledge from a Government-recognized University/institution;
  • Computer as a subject in a Degree/Diploma course; or
  • Passing Class 10 or Class 12 with Computer as a subject.

Candidates without such a certificate at the application stage may also apply.

However, they must produce proof of passing the basic computer knowledge examination before appointment, otherwise they will not be eligible for appointment and their selection may be cancelled.

A citizen of India, or must possess nationality as permitted under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

PwD / Divyang Eligibility

Although no vacancy is specifically reserved for PwD candidates in this advertisement, eligible PwD candidates can apply against non-reserved vacancies where the identified disability is suitable for the duties of the post.

Selection Process / Recruitment Process

The recruitment examination will be conducted in two stages.

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination

Marks per Question: 1 Mark

Negative Marking: 0.25 mark for each attempted incorrect answer.

The Preliminary Examination is only a screening/elimination test. Its marks will not be counted in the final selection merit.

Approximately 7 times the total number of vacancies will be called for the Main Examination, subject to availability.

Main Examination will be Descriptive and consist of two papers.

Candidates must appear in both Main Examination papers. Absence from either paper will make the candidate ineligible for selection.

Minimum Qualifying Marks – Main Examination

Candidate must obtain at least 40% marks in each paper, irrespective of category.

Final Merit

Final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination only, followed by category-wise original document verification.

Preliminary Examination marks will not be included in final merit.

If the Preliminary Examination is conducted in multiple CBRT sessions, appropriate normalisation may be applied.

Pay Scale / Salary Details

First Five Years

Fixed Salary: ₹49,600 per month

The selected candidate will initially be appointed on the prescribed fixed salary for five years, subject to applicable Government resolutions and conditions.

Regular Pay Scale

After satisfactory completion of five years and subject to applicable Government rules:

₹39,900 – ₹1,26,600

Pay Level: Level-7

Regular appointment remains subject to the terms and legal conditions mentioned in the notification, including the cited Supreme Court matters.

SEBC Certificate Conditions

SEBC candidates must submit the prescribed Non-Creamy Layer Certificate.

The notification provides applicable certificate periods/forms based on financial years 2023-24 / 2024-25 / 2025-26, including the prescribed Gujarat Government Appendix-4 format or the permitted Government of India Annexure-A alternative subject to specified dates.

For the prescribed Gujarat format, certificate should have been obtained between:

01 April 2024 and 21 August 2026.

The permitted Central Government format is subject to the dates/conditions specified in the PDF.

For married SEBC women, the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate must be based on the parents' income, not the husband's income. A certificate based on the husband's income will result in rejection.


EWS Certificate Conditions

Eligible EWS candidates must possess the prescribed:

Annexure-KH (English) or Appendix-G / prescribed Gujarati format, as specified.

The applicable certificate period mentioned is:

22 August 2023 to 21 August 2026.

Alternatively, the specified Income and Asset Certificate for Central Government EWS reservation based on FY 2024-25 may be accepted if obtained between 01 April 2026 and 21 August 2026, subject to the notification conditions.

Certificates meant only for benefits under Gujarat Government schemes will not be accepted for this purpose.

Ex-Servicemen

10% reservation is applicable to Ex-Servicemen as per rules.

Eligible Ex-Servicemen should have served at least 6 months in Navy/Air Force/Army and possess the competent authority's Ex-Serviceman identity card and discharge book.

Age relaxation:

Period of military service + 3 years.

Candidates due to retire as Ex-Servicemen within one year from the last date for registration can also register their candidature, subject to the prescribed rule.

 

Widow Candidates

Widow candidates must select “Yes” against the relevant column in the application.

Eligible widow women candidates will receive an additional 5% of the marks obtained in the competitive examination/normalized marks for priority in selection, subject to the prescribed conditions.

The candidate must not have remarried at the time of appointment and must produce original evidence when required.

Sports Candidates – Additional Marks

Eligible candidates who have represented in recognized sports at prescribed levels such as:

  • National/International
  • Inter-University
  • All India School Federation competitions

may receive an additional 5% of the marks obtained in the competitive examination/normalized marks, subject to production of the prescribed valid sports certificate.

Sports listed include athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, judo, rifle shooting, kabaddi, kho-kho, archery, horse riding, shot put, boating, chess and handball.


Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

Candidates should carefully note the following:
