UPSC ESE 2024 Requirement

The candidate must also:

1.      Possess the prescribed undergraduate qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, as applicable.

2.      Have cleared the Written Round of UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2024 in the relevant Mechanical/Electrical discipline.

3.      Have appeared for the UPSC ESE 2024 Interview.

4.      Have not been recommended for final selection by UPSC in ESE 2024.

5.      Have consented to sharing/disclosure of marks information on UPSC's website.

All requisite certificates must be valid and subsisting as of this date. The notification states that certificates issued after the closing date of application will not be entertained for determining eligibility.

Age Relaxation

Reservation/relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD candidates with disability of 40% and above, and Ex-Servicemen, will be according to Government of India guidelines.

OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer are not entitled to OBC concession and must indicate their category as UR.

OBC-NCL candidates must produce the prescribed valid certificate issued by the competent authority in the current financial year and the required non-creamy-layer declaration.

EWS reservation is subject to submission of the required Income and Asset Certificate from the competent authority.

Selection Process / Recruitment Process

Selection is based on UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2024 score out of 1200.

Recruitment Process

1.      Eligible candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification and UPSC ESE 2024 conditions.

2.      Applicant lists will be prepared category-wise in decreasing order of marks out of 1200 obtained in UPSC ESE 2024 for the applicable Mechanical/Electrical discipline.

3.      Candidates will be shortlisted according to their UPSC ESE 2024 score, eligibility conditions and MECL Recruitment Rules.

4.      Shortlisted eligible candidates will be called for Document Verification.

5.      If the documents are found suitable and match the advertisement criteria, offers of employment will be issued.

No Separate Examination/Interview

MECL will conduct:

• No separate written examination
• No separate personal interview

Only the UPSC ESE 2024 score out of 1200 will be used for recruitment.

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two or more candidates obtain identical total UPSC ESE 2024 scores:

1. Seniority in Age: Older candidate, based on date of birth recorded in Matriculation certificate, will rank higher.

2. Academic Merit: If the tie continues, the candidate having a higher aggregate percentage in the essential B.E./B.Tech/equivalent Engineering Degree will rank higher.

During Training

Selected candidates will undergo one year of training as Executive Trainees.

Initial Basic Pay during training:

₹40,000 per month

Applicable Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA), revised from time to time, will also be payable.

Security Deposit & Service Bond

An Executive/Executive Trainee must serve MECL for a minimum of 36 months after joining.

Security/Retention Amount

₹5,000 per month will be deducted from salary as retention/security deposit.

The amount is subject to deduction of PF etc.

After successful completion of 36 months, the total retention amount will be refunded without interest.

Service Bond

₹1.8 lakh

The employee must execute a bond to serve the Company for a minimum of 36 months.

If an employee leaves before completing 36 months, the retention amount contributed until then will be forfeited, and the employee will have to deposit the balance bond amount after adjusting the deducted security deposit.

If an Executive/Executive Trainee dies during the bond period, the deducted security deposit will be refunded without interest to the nominee.

 Medical Fitness

Appointment is subject to the selected candidate being declared medically fit by a Government Medical Officer/CMO of a Government Hospital, along with the appointee's declaration in the Company's prescribed proforma.

Medical evaluation includes, but is not limited to:

• General physical examination – height, weight and BMI
• Vision and colour blindness testing
• Hearing ability
• Blood pressure and cardiovascular health
• Respiratory function
• Musculoskeletal condition
• Neurological health
• Mental health assessment
• Urinalysis
• Routine blood tests, such as CBC and blood sugar
• Screening for communicable diseases such as tuberculosis and hepatitis
• Any other test considered necessary by the Competent Medical Authority

Candidates with a valid PwD certificate with benchmark disability will be examined by the Competent Medical Authority keeping their disability in mind.

Step 2 – Prepare Photograph & Signature

Register on the Online Recruitment Portal by entering all mandatory information.

Step 4 – Login

After successful registration, login to the Recruitment Portal.

Step 5 – Select Post

Click “Apply for a Post”.

Step 6 – Complete Application

Step 7 – Pay Application Fee

Candidates who are not exempt must pay ₹500 through the prescribed online payment/net-banking method.

Step 8 – Upload Documents

Upload the clearly scanned and self-attested prescribed documents.

Step 9 – Verify Details

Ensure all details are correct before final submission. SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates must select their category carefully because the category option will not be permitted to be changed later.

Step 10 – Submit Application

Submit the application online by 14.08.2026.

Step 11 – Print Application

Take a printout of the system-generated finally submitted application form and preserve it for future reference.

Candidates do not need to send the printout to MECL.

Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

Only Indian nationals are eligible.

Candidates must ensure that they satisfy all eligibility conditions.

Essential educational qualifications must be from an Indian University/Institute recognized by AICTE/Government of India/UGC.

If information supplied by a candidate is found false or inconsistent with eligibility conditions, candidature may be rejected at any stage, including after recruitment/joining.

MECL may increase/decrease vacancies, leave vacancies unfilled, or cancel/restrict/enlarge/modify/alter/withdraw the recruitment process without further notice or assigning reasons.

Applications through modes other than the Online Recruitment Portal will be rejected.

No correspondence regarding selection/document verification will be entertained. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification.

Legal disputes relating to the recruitment will fall under the sole and exclusive jurisdiction of courts/tribunals/forums in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Where CGPA/OGPA/grading is awarded, the equivalent percentage must be entered according to the University's/Institute's norms. Proof of conversion norms must be produced during document verification if called.

Candidates working in Central Government/State Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies/Nationalized Banks etc. must apply through proper channel and complete the online application, or furnish an NOC at document verification.

For all essential qualifications, minimum qualifying marks are 60%, although MECL reserves the right to increase them.

The date of passing will normally be the date shown on the mark sheet/provisional certificate. Where results are published on the University/Institute website, the result-posting date will be considered the passing date.

Names of shortlisted candidates will be displayed only on the MECL website under the CAREER section.

Candidates should not register more than once for the same post. If multiple applications are submitted, only the application having the higher Application Number will be considered. Fee paid against one application number will not be adjusted against another.
