Candidates must possess:

  • BE/B.Tech, or
  • M.Sc Computer Science

in the notified Engineering streams/equivalent streams mentioned in the notification.

Degree Institution Requirement

The Engineering degree must be from a university/institution recognized under the applicable Indian laws, including institutions recognized under:

  • UGC Act, 1956
  • IIT Act, 1961
  • AICTE Act, 1987
  • NITSER Act, 2007
  • IIIT Act, 2024

Foreign-country Engineering graduates are not eligible.


Final-Year Candidates

Final-year Engineering candidates can apply even if they have not yet passed their final-year examination.

They must:

  • Submit proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination along with marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 July 2027.
  • Produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from commencement of training at IMA.
  • If they fail to produce the required degree certificate, candidature may be cancelled.
  • Such candidates may be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis for recovery of training cost, stipend, pay and allowances paid.

Final-year result condition

Candidates whose final-year/final-semester result will be declared after 01 July 2027 are not eligible.


Age Limit

Age

20 to 27 years as on 01 July 2027.

The candidate must be:

  • Born not earlier than 01 July 2000
  • Born not later than 30 June 2007

Age Cut-off Document

Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate on the date of application will be accepted.

No other age-related document will be accepted, and later requests for changing the date of birth will not be considered.

Selection Process / Recruitment Process


Step 1 — Shortlisting

Applications are shortlisted by Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) based on:

  • Vacancy-to-call-up ratio
  • Engineering discipline/stream
  • Cumulative percentage of marks
  • Stream-wise cut-off

The Army reserves the right to shortlist applications without assigning a reason.


Step 2 — Selection Centre & SSB Date

Shortlisted candidates must log in and select:

  • SSB date
  • SSB centre

Availability is on a First Come, First Serve basis.

Once selected, the SSB centre/date normally cannot be changed.


Step 3 — SSB Interview

SSB centres:

  • Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
  • Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
  • Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • Jalandhar, Punjab

Call-up letters are issued through the registered email ID and SMS.


SSB Procedure

  • Two-stage selection process
  • Candidates clearing Stage 1 proceed to Stage 2
  • Candidates failing Stage 1 are returned the same day
  • SSB interview duration: maximum 5 days
  • Recommended candidates proceed for medical examination.

Step 4 — Medical Examination

Recommended candidates undergo medical examination.

SSB medical examination validity is 270 days from the Special Medical Board (SMB) to PCTA joining date.

Candidates who already underwent Army SSB medical and were declared Medically Fit may not need another medical examination if the applicable 270-day condition is satisfied.


Step 5 — Merit List

Merit is prepared Engineering stream/subject-wise based on SSB marks.

Tie-breaking:

1.      Older candidate by age gets higher position.

2.      If SSB marks and age are both the same, higher degree percentage gets higher position.

3.      Higher educational qualifications and previous performance have no role in merit.


Step 6 — Joining

Candidates in the merit list, within stream-wise vacancies and medically fit, are issued joining letters for pre-commission training at IMA Dehradun, subject to fulfilling all eligibility conditions.

Military Service Pay

Cadet Training Stipend

During the entire training period at IMA:

  • ₹56,100 per month
  • Equivalent to starting pay at Level 10.

Other Allowances

The notification lists, subject to applicable eligibility/conditions:

  • Para Reserve Allowance: ₹2,625/month
  • Technical Allowance Tier-I: ₹3,000/month
  • Technical Allowance Tier-II: ₹4,500/month
  • Dress Allowance: ₹20,000/year
  • Ration in Kind: Peace and Field Areas
  • Transport Allowance for Pay Level 10 and above:
    • Higher TPTA cities: ₹7,200 + DA/month
    • Other places: ₹3,600 + DA/month
  • Children Education Allowance: ₹2,250/month/child, for two eldest surviving children, subject to conditions
  • Hostel Subsidy: ₹6,750/month/child, for two eldest surviving children, subject to conditions.

Training Details

  • Training Academy: Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
  • Training duration: Approximately 12 months
  • Training allocation is based on final merit, Engineering stream and available vacancies.

Marriage During Training

Candidates:

  • Cannot marry during training.
  • Cannot live with parents/guardians during training.
  • Must not marry until completion of full training at IMA.
  • Marriage during training can result in discharge and recovery of Government expenditure.
  • If a candidate marries after application but before induction, candidature will be cancelled and the candidate will not be inducted.

Training Cost

The entire IMA training cost is borne by the Government.

If an Officer Cadet is withdrawn for reasons other than medical grounds or reasons beyond the candidate's control:

  • Training cost recovery is stated at ₹20,481.96 per week as a tentative cost.
  • Actual cost will be calculated at the time of withdrawal/resignation.
  • Annual increment in the stated training cost is 8%.
  • Candidates leaving training for personal reasons are liable for recovery of the training cost borne by the State.

Commission

Initial Commission

Selected candidates receive Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant from the course commencement date or IMA reporting date, whichever is later.

Permanent Commission

After successful completion of training, cadets are granted Permanent Commission in the Army in the rank of Lieutenant.

Ante-Date Seniority

TGC Engineering Graduates receive one year ante-date seniority from the date of commission for seniority, promotion and pay increment purposes.

Army Group Insurance Fund — AGIF

During receipt of stipend:

  • Officer Cadets are insured for ₹1.25 crore.
  • Monthly AGIF subscription: ₹12,500, payable in advance.
  • For 100% disability where the cadet is invalidated by the Medical Board and is not entitled to pension: ₹25 lakh.
  • For 20% disability: proportionately reduced to ₹5 lakh.
  • Less than 20% disability: ₹50,000 ex-gratia grant.
  • Disability due to alcoholism, drug addiction or pre-enrolment diseases does not qualify for the disability benefit/ex-gratia grant.
  • Cadets withdrawn on disciplinary grounds, expelled as undesirable, or voluntarily leaving the Academy are not eligible for these disability benefits.

10. Final-year candidate's declaration regarding submission of Engineering Degree passing proof and all marksheets by 01 July 2027.

11. Documents related to civil/police verification.

12. Certificate of Eligibility, where applicable for candidates requiring it.

13. Affidavit where there is a variation in candidate/parent names as required by the notification.


Original Certificates

All originals must be carried for verification.

DigiLocker certificates are not accepted in place of original certificates.

If a school/college does not issue a physical certificate and provides only an e-certificate through DigiLocker, the candidate must obtain a certificate from the Principal/Registrar confirming this and produce an authenticated colour printout of the e-certificate.
