The post is placed in Level 6 of the Pay Matrix, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400/- plus allowances. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in India and knowledge of computer operation with a typing speed of 35 words per minute. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

1.      Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in India.

2.      Knowledge of computer operation.

Age Limit

Age as on 1 September 2026

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years

Candidates should not be below 18 years of age as on 1 September 2026.


Age Relaxation

Usual age relaxation is admissible according to Government of India Rules for:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • Other Backward Classes — Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
  • Physically Challenged candidates
  • Ex-Servicemen

Dependents of Freedom Fighters

  • Relaxation of up to a maximum of 5 years over and above the prescribed upper age limit of 30 years.

Departmental Candidates

  • No upper age limit for departmental candidates of the Registry of the Supreme Court of India.

Candidates working in other Government Departments / PSUs / Nationalized Banks

  • No age relaxation will be allowed.

Reservation

The benefit of reservation will be provided in accordance with Rule 4A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961.

Objective Type Test — 100 Questions

The 100 questions are divided as follows:

  • General English including comprehension — 20 questions
  • General Aptitude — 15 questions
  • General Knowledge — 15 questions
  • Provisions relating to Judiciary in the Constitution of India — 15 questions
  • Supreme Court Rules, 2013 — 10 questions
  • Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961 — 10 questions
  • Computer Knowledge — 15 questions

Total: 100 questions / 100 marks


Typing Test

  • Language: English
  • Duration: 10 minutes
  • Minimum speed: 35 words per minute
  • Maximum marks: 50
  • Qualifying marks: 25
  • Mistakes allowed: 3% of total words typed

Written Test

The descriptive written test in English consists of:

  • Comprehension passage
  • Precis Writing
  • Essay Writing
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Maximum marks: 100
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 50

Interview

  • Maximum marks: 25
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 13

Shortlisting / Stage-wise Selection

If a large number of candidates qualify in the Objective Type Test by securing 50 or more marks, candidates will be shortlisted on merit in the ratio of 1:10 against the tentative vacancies for the second stage.

The second stage consists of:

  • Typing Speed Test on Computer
  • Written Test (Descriptive) in English

The Written Test answer sheets will be evaluated only for candidates who successfully qualify the Typing Speed Test, because qualifying the Typing Speed Test is mandatory.

Candidates who successfully qualify all three tests will be considered for interview in the ratio of 1:3 against the tentative vacancies.


Typing Test — Important Rules

  • An error involving a word/figure will be treated as a full mistake.
  • Wrong typing of a capital letter instead of a small letter, or vice versa, will be treated as a half mistake.
  • Omission, addition or substitution of a punctuation mark will also be treated as a half mistake.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step

1.      Visit the Supreme Court of India website — www.sci.gov.in.

2.      Go to the Recruitment section/link.

3.      Select the Junior Court Assistant recruitment application link.

4.      Complete the online registration.

5.      Fill in all required personal, educational and other details.

6.      Upload the required scanned photograph, signature and documents.

7.      Check all details carefully before final submission.

8.      Pay the applicable application fee online through the payment gateway provided by UCO Bank.

9.      Submit the application form.

10. Preview the submitted application form.

11. Take a printout of the completed application form for personal records.

12. Keep the Application Number safely for downloading the Admit Card and other recruitment-related information.

The printed application form does not have to be sent to the Registry.

Examination Centre

  • Candidates have to select cities in order of preference.
  • The candidate may be shifted to another city due to administrative reasons.
  • The Registry may shift examination centres and/or increase or decrease the number of centres.
  • No request for change of city/test centre or examination date will be entertained.

Examination / Interview

  • Objective Type Test is tentatively scheduled for 20 November 2026.
  • Typing Test and Written Test will be conducted in Delhi/NCR.
  • Interview will be conducted either online or physically in Delhi, as directed by the Competent Authority.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for Tests/Interview.
  • Admit Cards will not be sent by post.
  • Candidates must download their Admit Cards from the Supreme Court website.
  • Candidates must keep their registered personal e-mail ID and mobile number active throughout the recruitment process.
