Education Qualification

A. Assistant Teacher, Urban

The candidate must have:

• Graduation degree from a university established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
• Along with a Government-recognized teacher-training qualification, including the qualifications specified in the notification such as:
• B.T.C.
• Two-year B.T.C. (Urdu)
• Special B.T.C.
• Two-year Diploma in Special Education approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India
• Four-year B.El.Ed.
• Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education
• Must have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the State Government or Government of India.

Note: The notification states that the present name of the B.T.C. course is D.El.Ed.

B. Assistant Teacher, Affiliated Primary

The candidate must have:

1.      Graduation degree from a legally established/recognized university or deemed university/institution.

2.      B.T.C. or D.El.Ed. qualification from an NCTE-recognized course.

3.      Must have successfully passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Classes 01 to 05, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Government or Government of India.

Age Limit

Assistant Teacher, Urban

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years
• Age Cut-off Date: 01 July 2026

Assistant Teacher, Affiliated Primary

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum/Retirement Age stated: 62 years
• Age Cut-off Date: 01 July 2026.

The notification separately specifies the applicable reservation provisions and category conditions.

Pay Scale / Salary

Both posts are mentioned at Level-6.

Selection Process / Recruitment Process

Selection is based on a written examination.

Written Examination

• Total Marks: 360
• Total Questions: 120
• Question Type: Objective / Multiple Choice
• Duration: 2 hours
• Marks per Correct Answer: 3 marks
• Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for wrong/multiple answers
• Languages: Hindi and English
• Each question has four options, from which one most appropriate option must be selected.

Merit

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination.

If candidates have equal marks:

1.      Graduation percentage will be considered first.

2.      If graduation percentage is also equal, training qualification percentage will be considered.

3.      If all relevant marks are equal, the older candidate will be placed higher in merit.

Normalization

If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts due to a large number of applications, normalization will be applied according to the provisions mentioned in the notification. The normalized marks will be used for selection.

Examination Centre

The examination centres will be determined at district headquarters as required.

• Any examination centre may be allotted to a candidate.
• Information about the examination-centre district will be provided approximately 10 days before the examination.
• The exact examination-centre information can be obtained through the admit card approximately 3 days before the examination.
• Candidates must appear only at the examination centre allotted to them.
• Change of examination centre is not permitted.

If a candidate appears at a centre other than the centre printed on the admit card, the answer sheet will not be evaluated and the candidature will be cancelled.

How to Apply — Step by Step

Step 1 — One Time Registration

All candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR).

Step 2 — Online Application

After OTR, apply through the official UPESSC website:

www.upessc.up.gov.in

Only the OTR-based online application system is accepted. Applications through other methods will not be accepted.

Step 3 — Select School Preference

Candidates must fill their preference for selection in both types of schools. No change will be allowed after the last date.

Step 4 — Upload Photograph & Signature

• Signature must be scanned with a clear background.
• Signature format: JPG/JPEG
• Signature size: 10 KB–200 KB
• Signature resolution: 140 × 110 pixels
• Passport-size photograph: 30 KB–300 KB
• Photograph resolution: 300–600 pixels.

Step 5 — Upload Documents

All certificates/documents to be uploaded must be in PDF format.

• Size: 50 KB–500 KB.

Step 6 — Pay Examination Fee

After completing the application, pay the prescribed examination fee through the available online payment options.

Step 7 — Final Submission

Complete and submit the application before the prescribed deadline.

Step 8 — Keep Copies

After final submission, keep three copies of the online application safely for future use. Two copies will subsequently be required in separate sets during document verification.

Payment confirmation through the bank is required for the examination fee to be treated as valid. Candidates should preserve the fee receipt.

Documents Required

At document verification, shortlisted candidates are required to provide self-attested copies of the documents mentioned in the notification.

Main Documents

1.      Two self-attested copies of online application form.

2.      Two self-attested copies of High School marksheet and certificate.

3.      Two self-attested copies of Intermediate marksheet and certificate.

4.      Two self-attested copies each of Graduation 1st, 2nd and 3rd year marksheets and degree.

5.      Two self-attested copies of relevant BTC/D.El.Ed./two-year BTC Urdu/Special BTC/Special Education Diploma/B.El.Ed. or applicable training qualification marksheet and certificate.

6.      Two self-attested copies of TET certificate.

7.      Two self-attested copies of NOC — for serving candidates.

8.      Two self-attested copies of applicable UP reservation certificates:

o    SC/ST

o    OBC

o    EWS

o    Dependent of Freedom Fighter

9.      Two self-attested copies of disability certificate, where applicable.

10. Two copies of affidavit in the prescribed format.

11. Two self-attested copies of character certificate from the last educational institution.

12. Two self-attested copies of character certificates from two respectable persons.

13. Affidavit regarding pending/non-pending court cases and conviction/non-conviction, where applicable.

The notification requires shortlisted candidates to bring the original documents along with the required self-attested copies for verification.

Important Application Instructions

OTR is Mandatory

Every candidate must complete OTR before submitting the application.

Application Information

After final submission, changes to category, sub-category, date of birth, gender and other such information are not permitted.

Eligibility

Candidates must ensure that they possess all prescribed qualifications by the last date of application.

Date of Birth

Only the date of birth mentioned in the High School/equivalent examination certificate will be accepted. Other documents will not be accepted for establishing date of birth.

Application Language

Registration and application form must be filled in English.

Correction

A correction facility is provided up to the prescribed correction date. Examination fee once deposited will not be refunded or adjusted against another application. If more than one application is finally submitted for the posts, only the last submitted application will be accepted and other applications will be cancelled.

False Information

If information or declaration submitted by a candidate is found false, candidature may be cancelled and the candidate may be debarred from future examinations/selections.
