Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj has released Advertisement No. 06/2026 for the PGT Selection Examination 2026. A total of 2,607 PGT vacancies are available in aided non-government secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh, including 2,329 posts for boys' schools and 278 for girls' schools. Online registration/application begins on 18 September 2026, while the examination fee can be deposited up to 17 October 2026. Applications can be corrected up to 21 October 2026. The written examination is scheduled for 15 and 16 December 2026. Selection Process / Recruitment Process

The selection process is based on:


Stage 1 – Written Examination

  • Total Marks: 360
  • Total Questions: 120
  • General Knowledge: 30 questions
  • Subject-related: 90 questions
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions
  • Each question has four options.
  • Correct Answer: +3 marks
  • Wrong / Multiple Answer: -1 mark

Stage 2 – Interview

  • Interview Marks: 40
  • Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written-examination marks will be called for interview.
  • Final merit is prepared out of 400 marks:
    • Written Examination: 360
    • Interview: 40

Tie-breaking

If candidates have equal merit:

1.      Written examination marks will be considered first.

2.      If still equal, interview marks.

3.      Then higher percentage in Post Graduation.

4.      Then percentage in training qualification.

5.      If all remain equal, the older candidate will be placed higher.

Step 1

Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPESSC official website.


Step 2

After completing OTR, log in to the online application system.


Step 3

Select the relevant PGT subject and school category as applicable.


Step 4

Fill in all required personal, educational and other details carefully.


Step 5

Upload the required photograph and signature in the prescribed format.


Step 6

Upload required certificates/documents in PDF format.


Step 7

Pay the applicable examination fee through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking.


Step 8

Verify all details before final submission.


Step 9

Submit the application online before the prescribed deadline.


Step 10

Keep three copies of the submitted application form safely for future use. Two copies are required for the interview process.

The PDF specifically states that OTR is mandatory and applications through any other method will not be accepted.

7.      NOC – for candidates already employed.

8.      Discharge certificate for Ex-Servicemen, wherever applicable.

9.      SC/ST certificate, wherever applicable.

11. EWS certificate, wherever applicable.

12. Freedom Fighter dependent certificate, wherever applicable.

13. Disability certificate, wherever applicable.

14. Two copies of affidavit.

15. Character certificate from the last educational institution.

16. Character certificates issued by two respectable persons.

17. Affidavit relating to pending/not-pending court cases and conviction status.

18. Original documents must also be brought for verification.

The notification requires two separate sets of self-attested photocopies along with the originals at the interview. Failure to bring the required records may prevent participation in the interview.


Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions


Application

  • OTR is mandatory.
  • Only online applications are accepted.
  • Application must be completed in English.
  • Information submitted in the application must be correct.
  • Category, sub-category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed after final submission.
  • If more than one application is submitted for the same subject/category, the last submitted application will be considered and earlier applications will be cancelled.
  • Application fee will not be refunded.
  • Candidates must satisfy all mandatory qualifications by the prescribed deadline.
  • The Commission will not provide individual advice regarding eligibility.
  • Incorrect or false information can result in cancellation and debarment from examinations/selections.

Examination Centre

  • Examination centres will generally be determined at district headquarters.
  • Any centre may be allotted to a candidate.
  • Candidates must appear only at the centre mentioned on the admit card.
  • Examination-centre changes are not permitted.
  • Appearing at a different centre can result in cancellation of candidature.

OMR Instructions

  • Only black ball-point pen is permitted for filling OMR.
  • Fountain pen, gel pen, sketch pen, pencil and whitener are prohibited.
  • Eraser, blade, nail or whitener etc. must not be used on the OMR sheet.
  • More than one option marked for a question will not be evaluated.
  • Extra marks/dots/marks outside the required bubbles can result in non-evaluation of the OMR sheet.
  • Candidates are responsible for correctly filling all required information.

Scribe Facility

  • Eligible Divyangjan candidates may use a scribe according to the government orders mentioned in the notification.
  • The candidate has to arrange the scribe.
  • Registration for the scribe facility must be completed at the Commission office one week before the written examination.
  • Eligible candidates receive 20 minutes extra time per hour.
  • No travel allowance is payable to the scribe.

Reserved Categories

  • Candidates claiming UP reservation benefits must mention their category.
  • Candidates who are not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh are treated as General category for reservation benefits.
  • Prescribed Uttar Pradesh government certificate formats must be used.
  • For female candidates, the caste certificate from the father's side is considered.
  • EWS certificate must be in the prescribed format and for the relevant year as specified in the notification.

Other Conditions

  • Government/serving candidates must produce an NOC when required.
  • Candidates with more than one living spouse, subject to the stated exceptions, are not eligible.
  • Court-case/criminal-case information must be disclosed.
  • False or suppressed information can lead to cancellation.
  • Before final appointment, a medical fitness certificate may be required.
  • Male candidates are not eligible for teaching posts in girls' institutions, except for the specific exception mentioned for a blind candidate in Music.
  • Female candidates can apply for both boys' and girls' schools, but must select one category while applying for a particular subject.
  • Only one application is valid for each subject and school category.
