Selection Process / Recruitment Process

The primary selection method is Walk-in Interview.

Selection will be based on:

1.      Performance in the interview; or

2.      Any other criteria adopted by the Selection Committee.

3.      If a large number of candidates appear, the Selection/Screening Committee may shortlist candidates through a written examination or any other criteria deemed fit.

4.      CSIR-NAL may adopt its own shortlisting criteria.

5.      A panel of suitable/waitlisted candidates will be generated after selection.

The panel is generally valid for a maximum of one year. Empanelment does not automatically guarantee engagement.


How to Apply – Step-by-Step

This recruitment is through Walk-in Interview, not postal/email application.

1.      Check the post, specialization, qualification, experience and respective interview date.

2.      Download/use the prescribed application form available through the CSIR-NAL website.

3.      Fill the application form completely.

4.      If applying for more than one position, prepare a separate application for each position.

5.      Affix/bring the latest passport-size photograph.

6.      Bring Aadhaar Card or another Government-issued photo ID.

7.      Bring all original educational qualification certificates and mark sheets.

8.      Bring experience certificates and other applicable supporting documents.

9.      Bring caste/category certificate, where applicable, in the prescribed/latest proper format.

10. Carry one set of photocopies of the certificates.

11. Report to the specified CSIR-NAL venue on the applicable interview date between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM for registration and document verification.

12. Do not send the application through post, speed post or email.

The application form specifically asks candidates to attach relevant copies of educational qualifications and employment details. The form also asks NET/GATE candidates to attach a valid scorecard/certificate.


Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

  • The engagement is purely temporary and contractual.
  • The engagement does not give any right to continuation, absorption, or regularization in CSIR.
  • The engagement is for a short period and is co-terminus with the project.
  • The engagement can be terminated by either side with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.
  • The Director, CSIR-NAL may increase or decrease the number of vacancies.
  • The Director, CSIR-NAL may cancel the recruitment process at any stage.
  • The decision of the Director, CSIR-NAL will be final and binding.
  • The maximum duration of project engagement cannot exceed six years.
  • The six-year limit applies whether the engagement is in one project or different projects across CSIR-NAL/other CSIR laboratories.
  • Candidates already working at CSIR-NAL or another CSIR laboratory must produce an NOC from the Project Leader/HOD at the interview.
  • Selected candidates must furnish a relieving order before joining.
  • Possessing the minimum qualification does not automatically entitle a candidate to an interview or selection.
  • CSIR-NAL may apply its own shortlisting criteria.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Walk-in Interview.
  • Candidates whose qualifying examination results are awaited are not eligible.
  • The required degree/qualification must already have been completed.
  • Selected candidates must produce original educational certificates.
  • Selected candidates must produce original mark sheets.
  • Selected candidates must produce original experience certificates.
  • Selected candidates must produce the caste certificate, wherever applicable.
  • Selected candidates must produce all other required original documents.
  • Selected candidates should contact the Recruitment-2 Section regarding reporting for duty within 15 days.
  • Normally, no further extension for reporting will be given.
  • Canvassing or bringing political or other influence will lead to disqualification.
  • Candidates must not send applications by post.
  • Candidates must not send applications by speed post.
  • Candidates must not send applications by email.
  • Candidates applying for multiple positions must apply separately for each position.
  • Preference will be given to candidates possessing relevant desirable experience.
