Research Scientist

RS20 – 03 Posts: M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Water Resources/Hydrology/Irrigation Water Management or equivalent specialization, with B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering/Agriculture Engineering.

RS21 – 05 Posts: M.E./M.Tech in Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics/Spatial Information Technology or equivalent specialization, with B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.

Desirable for RS25: Experience in satellite data analysis, remote-sensing applications, GIS and programming (Python/R/Google Earth Engine).


Project Associate-I

PAI-06 – 03 Posts

Essential: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent specialization.

Desirable qualifications include:

1.      Proficiency in Python, C#, C++, Java or R.

2.      Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and RESTFUL API design.

3.      Knowledge of front-end/back-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, Django, Ruby on Rails and Express.js.

4.      Knowledge of DBMS including relational databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.


Project Associate-II

PAII-02 – 01 Post

  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent specialization.
  • 2 years' experience in Research and Development in Industrial/Academic Institutions or Science & Technology Organisations and scientific activities/services.

Desirable: Working knowledge of programming with expertise in AI, ML, DL, Python, React JS, OpenLayers, Flutter, Leaflet, Geoserver, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Geospatial Data Management and GIS Database Handling.

PAII-03 – 01 Post

Either:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Geoinformatics or equivalent specialization;

OR

  • M.Sc. in Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing & GIS or equivalent specialization, with B.Sc. Physics/Mathematics as one of the subjects.

Additionally, 2 years' experience in Research & Development in Industrial/Academic Institutions or Science & Technology Organisations and scientific activities/services is required.

Desirable: Working knowledge of Remote Sensing & GIS.


Project Scientist-B Qualification

PSB03 – 01 Post

M.Sc./M.Sc Tech/M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology or equivalent specialization with B.Sc. in Geology and Physics/Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

PSB04 – 01 Post

M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics/Geospatial Technology/Spatial Information Technology or equivalent specialization with B.Sc. Physics/Mathematics/Geology as a compulsory subject;

OR

B.E./B.Tech in Geoinformatics or equivalent specialization.

PSB05 – 05 Posts

B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent specialization.

Desirable: Experience in Python/JavaScript (React, Angular, Express), C/C++; UNIX and Bash scripting; SQL/Postgres/SQLite databases; web-development frameworks, preferably Django or Flask.

PSB06 – 01 Post

M.Sc. in Remote Sensing/GIS/Remote Sensing & GIS/Geoinformatics/Geomatics/Geospatial Technology/Spatial Information Technology/Environmental Sciences/Agriculture with specialization in Agricultural Physics/Agricultural Engineering/Agrometeorology or equivalent specialization, with B.Sc. in Agriculture (4-year degree)/Life Sciences/Physical Sciences or equivalent specialization.

Desirable: Digital image analysis, thematic classification, geo-database preparation and working knowledge of ArcMap/QGIS/ERDAS.


Project Scientist-I Qualification

PSI-06 – 02 Posts

M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent specialization, with B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent specialization.

Desirable:

  • Python/C#/C++/Java/R programming.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms.
  • TensorFlow, PyTorch and Scikit-learn experience.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.

Junior Research Fellow Qualifications

M.Sc. Agriculture/Horticulture or equivalent specialization with B.Sc. Agriculture/Horticulture (4 years).

Desirable: Working experience in Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing & GIS applications.

JRF35 – 01 Post

B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/Data Science/Artificial Intelligence or equivalent;

OR

M.Sc. Computer Science/Data Science or equivalent specialization.

Desirable areas include AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Python, full-stack web development, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, backend frameworks, databases, version control, RESTful APIs, deployment tools and cloud-based application development.


Additional JRF Requirement

Applicants for JRF30 to JRF35 must qualify one of the specified national-level tests with a valid score card in the relevant discipline, including:

  • CSIR-UGC NET, including lectureship/Assistant Professorship, or GATE; or
  • National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments/agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.

Minimum Academic Percentage Requirements

The general eligibility requirements include:

  • M.E./M.Tech: Minimum 60% aggregate or CGPA/CPI 6.5/10.
  • M.Sc./M.Sc Tech: Minimum 65% aggregate (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI 6.84/10.
  • B.E./B.Tech: Minimum 65% aggregate (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI 6.84/10.
  • B.Sc: Minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10.

All degrees must be duly recognized by AICTE/UGC or another organization authorized by the Government of India.

Only passed-out candidates are eligible. Candidates awaiting final results need not apply.

Candidates who pursued B.Tech/M.Tech through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible.

Rounding of marks/CGPA is not allowed; values should be entered to the nearest two decimal points.

Age Relaxation

OBC: 3 years over the applicable UR/EWS upper age limit.

SC/ST: 5 years over the applicable UR/EWS upper age limit.

Ex-Servicemen: Upper-age relaxation as per Government of India orders.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Upper-age relaxation as per Government of India orders.

Relevant certificates issued by competent authorities must be produced to claim relaxation.


Selection Process / Recruitment Process

Selection consists of:

Application → Screening/Shortlisting → Document Verification → Interview → Selection

The prescribed qualification is only the minimum requirement and does not automatically entitle a candidate to an interview.

NRSC may screen applications based on eligibility and may prescribe additional criteria for shortlisting.

Only screened-in/shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.

Communication to shortlisted candidates will be sent through email. The shortlisted candidates' list will also be placed on the NRSC website.

NRSC will not entertain correspondence regarding shortlisting.

Uploaded documents will be verified during the interview.

Tenure of Appointment

The advertised positions are purely temporary, initially for one year, subject to project validity.

They may be extended based on periodic performance review or until completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

For JRF and Research Scientist, the maximum period can be five years.

Appointment does not give any claim or right to regular appointment in NRSC/ISRO/Department of Space.

NRSC may terminate services at any time without notice or assigning reasons.

2.      Applications are accepted online only.

3.      Access the NRSC online recruitment portal during the application period.

4.      Complete online registration between 01.08.2026 at 10:00 AM and 21.08.2026 at 5:00 PM.

5.      Enter a valid and correct email address and mobile number.

6.      Fill all required personal, educational and other information carefully.

7.      Upload the prescribed photograph, signature and required certificates/documents.

8.      After completing the form, proceed to the BHARATKOSH payment gateway.

9.      Pay ₹250 application fee.

10. Download the payment e-acknowledgement.

11. Log in again to the e-recruitment portal after successful payment and complete the final submission.

12. Preserve the generated Online Registration Number.

13. Download the personalised registration confirmation form containing the candidate's name, registration number, advertisement number and post code.

14. Regularly check the registered email, including spam/junk folders, and NRSC website for updates.

Important Instructions / Terms & Conditions

  • Positions are temporary and for a specific duration.

  • NRSC/ISRO reserves the right not to fill all or any positions.
  • No interim correspondence will be entertained.
  • Candidates should avoid multiple applications for the same position. If multiple applications are submitted, only the latest one submitted before the closing date will be considered.
  • In case of ambiguity/dispute in interpretation of the Hindi version, the English version will prevail.
  • Corrigenda concerning qualification requirements, number of posts, etc., will be published only on the NRSC website.
  • Candidates are advised to apply well before the closing date.
  • Government seeks a workforce reflecting gender balance, and women candidates are encouraged to apply.
