Educational Qualification

Candidates must:

1.      Be a Graduate from a UGC-recognized University.

2.      Possess a Diploma/Certificate in Stenography/Shorthand from ITI/Polytechnic/recognized institute.

3.      Candidates pursuing the Diploma/Certificate may also apply but must produce the pass/completion certificate during document verification if required.

4.      Have adequate knowledge of the Assamese language.

5.      Furnish a valid Employment Exchange Registration Number of Assam.

Cut-off Date: Last date of receipt of online application (30 July 2026).

Selection Process / Recruitment Process

Stage 1 – Stenography Test

• Voice Test before dictation – 2 Minutes
• Speed Test in shorthand at 100 words per minute (700 words) – 100 Marks, Duration 7 Minutes
• Computer Testing Time – 3 Minutes
• Transcription Time – 25 Minutes

Stage 2 – Written Test

• Objective Type (OMR Based)
• Total Marks – 70
• Duration – 1½ Hours

Subjects:

• English Language Proficiency – 50 Marks
• Assamese Language – 20 Marks

Candidates must obtain 40% marks separately in both English and Assamese sections.

Candidates equal to 10 times the vacancies securing minimum 30 marks in Stenography Test will be called.

Stage 3 – Viva-Voce

• 10 Marks

Candidates will be called in 1:3 ratio based on merit.

Final Merit

Prepared on the basis of:

• Stenography Test Marks
• Viva-Voce Marks

Tie Breaking

• Higher marks in Stenography Test.
• If still tied, older candidate gets preference.

High Court reserves the right to fix/alter cut-off marks.

Pay Scale / Salary Details

• ₹22,000 – ₹97,000
• Grade Pay: ₹9,700
• Other allowances as per Government rules.

3.      Click "Online Application for the post of Stenographer Grade-II in the District Courts of Assam."

4.      Fill the online application.

5.      Upload required scanned documents.

6.      Pay the application fee online.

7.      Submit the application.

8.      Save the Registration Code.

9.      Applications submitted by any mode other than online will be rejected.

• High Court may modify/cancel the advertisement at any stage.
• Examination materials will be destroyed according to SOP Notification No. 50 dated 26-06-2025.
• Matters not covered in the advertisement will be decided by the High Court.
