Educational Qualification

If eligible for relaxation on more than one ground, only the maximum applicable relaxation will be allowed, not cumulative relaxation. SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies do not receive their category age relaxation.


Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be:

1.      A citizen of India; or

2.      A citizen of Nepal; or

3.      A subject of Bhutan; or

4.      A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates in categories 2–4 must have a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India, which must be produced during Document Verification.


Medical Fitness

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification must pass the prescribed Railway medical examination.

A-3

  • Distance vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses; lens power not exceeding 2D.
  • Near vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6.
  • Must pass Colour, Binocular, Night and Mesopic vision tests.

B-1

  • Distance vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses; lens power not exceeding 4D.
  • Near vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 where required.
  • Must pass Colour, Binocular, Night and Mesopic vision tests.

C-1

  • Distance vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.
  • Near vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 where required.

Candidates who fail the required medical standard will not be considered for empanelment and will not receive an alternative appointment.

Shortlisting

  • Candidates for CBT-II: 15 times the community-wise vacancies notified against the RRB, based on CBT-I merit.

  • Tie-breaking: older candidate gets higher merit; if age is also the same, alphabetical order of the given name is used.

Empanelment

Empanelment is based on merit and is subject to:

3.      Visit the official RRB website/application link.

4.      Create an RRB account.

5.      Candidates who already created an account for an earlier RRB CEN should use the same credentials.

6.      Provide a valid personal mobile number and active email ID.

7.      Authenticate identity through DigiLocker/Aadhaar as advised.

8.      Select only one RRB.

9.      Select eligible and preferred Railway Zones/posts/categories under that RRB.

10. Select examination medium.

11. Fill the online application with correct information.

12. Complete live photograph capture.

13. Upload the required signature.

14. SC/ST candidates seeking free train travel must upload their valid SC/ST certificate.

15. Pay the examination fee online.

16. Confirm successful fee payment through SMS/email.

17. Submit the application.

18. Keep the registration/application details safely.

19. If required, use the modification window from 16.09.2026 to 25.09.2026 by paying ₹250 per modification.

20. Eligible candidates using a scribe must submit scribe details during 26.09.2026–30.09.2026.

At Document Verification

Candidates must bring:

  • All original documents.
  • Two sets of self-attested photocopies.
  • Educational qualification certificates.
  • Age proof.
  • Caste/category certificates wherever applicable.
  • EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST certificates where claimed.
  • Ex-Servicemen/PwBD certificates where applicable.
  • NOC from present employer, where applicable.
  • Other prescribed certificates according to the candidate's claim.

Certificates must be in English or Hindi; where issued in another language, a self-attested translated version in Hindi/English must be produced.

Documents for Reservation Categories

OBC-NCL

  • Certificate in prescribed format.
  • Must be issued on or after 01.04.2026 and not later than the application closing date.
  • Candidate's caste must be in the current Central OBC list.
  • Self-declaration confirming non-creamy-layer status is required at DV.

EWS

  • Income & Asset Certificate in prescribed format.
  • Family gross annual income below ₹8 lakh.
  • Financial year applicable to this CEN: 2025–26.
  • Asset conditions specified in the CEN must also be satisfied.
  • Certificate must be valid on the application closing date.

Minority Candidates

The notification recognizes:

Candidates claiming fee waiver must submit the prescribed minority declaration affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper at DV.


Scribe Facility

Scribe assistance is available according to the conditions in the notification.

Eligible categories include:

  • Blindness
  • Locomotor Disability – Both Arms Affected (BA)
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Other eligible PwBD candidates having physical limitation to write, subject to the prescribed medical certificate
  • Persons with less than 40% disability covered under Section 2(s) of the RPwD Act and having difficulty writing, subject to prescribed certificates.

Important conditions:

  • Candidate must opt for scribe in the application.
  • Candidate arranges the scribe at own cost.
  • Scribe must register with RRB and obtain an OTR number.
  • Scribe can assist only one candidate in the same CEN.
  • A candidate cannot act as a scribe for another candidate in the same CEN.
  • Scribe qualification must be one step below the candidate's qualification.
  • Compensatory time: 20 minutes per hour of examination.

Modification of Application

  • Modification fee: ₹250 per modification.
  • Fee is non-refundable.
  • Modification window: 16.09.2026 to 25.09.2026.
  • No modification is allowed after 25.09.2026.

  • Security/Indemnity Bond may be required at joining.
