National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Information Bulletin for National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2026 for admission to the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central/State Universities/Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs and Government Colleges for the Academic Session 2026–27. The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Eligible candidates who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 (or equivalent) may apply online within the prescribed dates. Admission will be based on the NCET 2026 score and subsequent counseling by participating institutions.Candidates should carefully review the official notification before applying

Educational Qualification

Candidate must have:

  • Passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination
    OR
  • Appearing in 2026 Class 12 examination

List of Qualifying Examinations includes:

  • 10+2 examination from recognized Board
  • Intermediate/Pre-University examination
  • Senior Secondary (NIOS with minimum five subjects)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Examination
  • Equivalent foreign qualification (with AIU equivalence certificate)

Age Limit

  • No age limit for appearing in NCET 2026
  • Candidates must fulfill age criteria (if any) of respective University/Institution

Subject Requirements

Exam includes:

  • 2 Languages (to be chosen)
  • 3 Domain-Specific Subjects
  • General Test (Compulsory)
  • Teaching Aptitude (Compulsory)

Domain Subject syllabus: As per Class 12 syllabus only.

Medium: 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu)

Duration: 180 Minutes
PwBD candidates: 20 minutes extra per hour

Questions to Attempt: 160

  • Language 1 – 23 questions (20 to attempt)
  • Language 2 – 23 questions (20 to attempt)
  • Teaching Aptitude – 23 questions (20 to attempt)
  • General Test – 28 questions (25 to attempt)
  • Domain Subjects (3) – 28 questions each (25 to attempt)

Counseling / Interview Process

  • Conducted by respective Universities/Institutions/Government Colleges
  • NTA does not conduct counseling
  • Merit list will be prepared by participating institutions based on NCET score
